Under the Public Health Act, individuals can now be fined up to $11,000 or sent to prison for six months - or both - for leaving home without a “reasonable excuse”. They can also be fined another $5500 for each day the offence continues.

#COVID19: Stage 2 restrictions that will be enforced from midnight tonight:
In the last 24hr hours, 2 children under the age of 10 have tested positive with COVID-19. NSW Government urges parents to keep children at home from school.
Income insecurity & school fees - if your family is experiencing financial distress during these challenging times, schools are asking parents to contact them directly to discuss their situation.
NSW Parents’ Council are proactively working with industry leaders to ensure that the needs of families in our independent community are addressed.
NSW Premier & NSW Education Minister are recommending parents to keep children at home from school. Schools will remain open for children of essential services workers & those in need. “One unit of teaching” via online learning model will streamline learning. NSW Premier assures that parents will be supported in the decision they make.

UPDATE: HSC 2020 is going ahead, as confirmed by NESA today. Chair of the NESA said he had 3 important messages for HSC students:
Effective immediately the Board is giving principals or system authorities the power to make decisions about the number and weighting of HSC formal assessment tasks for their school in 2020. The Board affirms its complete trust in principals and teachers.
